Forget your little black dress; it’s now all about the Little Black Jacket thanks to Chanel. Early Friday morning saw the Saatchi Gallery, Chelsea, open its doors to crowds of people greatly anticipating the first day of the photography exhibition.

Situated on the first floor of the gallery, four huge rooms full of black and white photographs filled the blank canvas walls. Created by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld, the exhibition hosts 109 photos of celebrities wearing the much sought after jacket. From Lily Rose Cooper to Sarah Jessica Parker, and even Kayne West, the jacket has been photographed capturing the natural and graceful simplicity of the garment.  Each image displays some kind of personality about it, which graces the collection of photos with even more likeability and allows you to somehow learn something about each character.

A room dedicated to Yoko Ono displayed her life through a series of photographs and a video, where she acted in the famous jacket.

Showing Chanel’s timeless and classic charm through their personal choice of jacket, Lagerfeld and Roitfeld have managed to celebrate the life of the garment throughout the ages and further develop its place within fashion for 2012. All of the photographs can be found within The Little Black Jacket Chanel Revisited book that is being released this autumn.

The exhibition is free to visit until 28th October. Find out more about the Little Black Jacket here.
