True British heritage brought the Pelham Hotel in South Kensington to life on Wednesday evening with the launch of Powder Hill London jewellery. Nicola Pulvertaft, the founder and creative director of this beautiful label has spent the last 15 years establishing herself as a craftswoman within the jewellery world. With the likes of Harvey Nichols and Selfridges selling her unique pieces, Nicola has also found herself creating individual, exclusive pieces for Drew Barrymore, as well as other celebrity customers.

The launch of Powder Hill seems to be a true celebration of the effort Nicola has gone to in order to establish herself. There is a sense of “home” to her work and that is what makes it even more special. The autumn/winter collection features country animals as well as pieces of heritage such as shotguns and horses in a series of necklaces, charm bracelets and earrings. The Black Powder Shotgun Necklace has to be our favourite, as the intricate detailing it has is fascinating. The gun itself has the same features of a gun and it opens to reveal two 18-carat gold cartridges that resemble the bullets inside. Priced at £10,500, the necklace shows dedication and craftsmanship in the prettiest form.

In addition to this, Nicola has created a stunning array of cocktail pieces and a magnificent Trophy necklace, which was worn at the recent exclusive premiere of Skyfall. The necklace, priced at £7,800, can be bought in yellow, rose or white gold and is set with a diamond in the centre.

Other stand-out pieces included the Dressage/Hunting necklace that featured t-bar closure for £4,900 and the Stacking Bangles priced at £2,200.

Exquisite and excellent is the only way we can describe Nicola’s work, and we are sure we will be seeing a lot more of Powder Hill in the future.
