Leona Lewis creates cosmetic collection for The Body Shop

Following in the footsteps of Lily Cole, multi-platinum selling star Leona Lewis has become The Body Shop’s new brand ambassador. 1

Not content with just conquering the singing world, former X Factor winner Leona will raise awareness of animal cruelty with the launch of her new cosmetic range for the company, featuring lip glosses in bronze, coral, fuchsia and petal, shimmer palettes in bronze or blush, and synthetic flower-shaped blusher brushes, all for under £20. The singer has also designed a White Musk Libertine perfume described as “wild” and “liberating” for the collection, all of which enter stores on 26th March.2

An avid vegetarian since 12, Leona explained that she was “passionate about beauty” and “all about animal rights,” and so a collaboration with a company known for its ethical trade and cruelty-free requirements must have been a dream come true for the 27-year-old. However, as brand ambassador, Leona will also promote The Body Shop’s support of Cruelty Free International, an organisation also supported by the likes of Joss Stone and Paul Mitchell, which aim’s to globally ban cosmetic testing on animals. From 15th May, The Body Shop will be asking customers to sign a pledge in aid of the organisation.

Talking about her appointment as brand ambassador and subsequent collection, Leona stated that she was “excited to present [her] first ever beauty collection, designed to celebrate cruelty-free beauty at The Body Shop”.
