Unleash your inner animal with Bill Skinner’s AW 13 collection

Bill Skinner is back with his bigger and beastier autumn/winter collection.

For as long as he can remember, Bill has always been intrigued and captivated by craftsmanship, quality and design, which has remained essential to the company’s ethos. Bill studied at the Sir John Cass College of Art and after graduation began working for a number of companies in London’s prestigious area for jewellers – Hatton Garden. During this time, Bill discovered his natural flair for pattern-making and soon became renowned for his freelance work for jewellers such as Asprey, Garrads and Van Cleef and Arples.

Bill attracted great critical acclaim during the 1980s and began working with Butler and Wilson and Vivienne Westwood which marked the birth of fashion jewellery as we know it today. During the 1990s, Bill’s work grew into a thriving business, creating a wide range of jewellery for many of the world’s best-known brands.

For his latest collection entitled Bigger Beasts, Bill has ventured to the wonders of the African savannah to study animals in their natural habitat with a camera in one hand and a sketchbook in the other. His dedication to the pieces flourished at night, where he would work by gas lamp carving his models, capturing both their prowess and beauty in precise detail.

Some of the pieces include an intricately detailed silver-plated elephant face, gold lion manes and contrasting buffalo busts, alongside beautiful gemstone beads. Brighten up any winter outfit with these captivating statement pieces.
