Converse Get Loud with new campaign’s launch party at The Circle

Having long been the staple for effortless urban style, in recent years Converse have paired up with some of the most iconic venues in the capital to provide a variety of music and cultural events – from last year’s Block Party at the Old Vic Tunnels to the current run of Converse Gigs @ 100 Club. This month the American brand has partnered up with London’s The Circle promising the chance to “Get Inked” and “Get Sneakers” as part of their Get Loud campaign.

In line with the latest Rock Craftsmanship range, the Get Loud campaign is designed to “celebrate the attitude and lifestyle of rock ‘n’ roll and [combine] music with creative tattoo art”, featuring reconstructed uppers from double zips and distressed washes to grungy, studded Chuck Taylors. Most importantly Get Loud promises three weeks of intimate, free shows featuring Metz, Pure Love and Bring Me the Horizon, as well as offering free tattoos by The Circle’s resident artists including Jethro Wood, Sarah Keeley and Daniel Ronson.

Last night’s launch party demonstrated just how close these gigs may prove to be, with hundreds of stylish bodies packed into the tattoo parlour’s basement room and DJs shaking the walls lined with eye-catching designs. In fact, the unassuming townhouse was so hot that many of the guests (from Albert Hammond Jr and Charlie XCX to Jeff Leach and Jimmy Q) spilled outside with their drinks, while also feasting on Mexican street food almost in a nod to the very urban culture that Converse assuredly promotes.

Although there were only two Get Loud-styled sneakers rather unassumingly on display, plenty of guests wore the brand with pride. Essentially, Converse is already so ingrained in the capital’s fashion identity that a takeover of London’s coolest parlour/gallery space and a push for recognising the rising tattoo culture comes as no surprise. Get Loud tickets and tattoos are going fast, and no doubt the new range of sneakers will do the same.
