Ethical, chic and super comfortable: Shanti Sundays has your Sunday wardrobe covered!

Shanti Sundays has just debuted her first, ethical womenswear collection and it’s every girl’s perfect Sunday wardrobe! Effortlessly chic and super comfortable, we caught up with the brand behind these fantastic clothes to find out more about designing a collection that looks great and helps to take care of the environment at the same time.

What’s your inspiration for the brand?

Shanti Sundays is a reflection of what I’m into and what I like to wear. It was initially conceived as a fashionable yoga brand, but has gradually evolved into more of a fashion brand.  Maybe it’s because I’m becoming more identified as a fashion designer! I like to think Shanti Sundays offers the perfect “off duty” wardrobe. Whatever your Sunday holds – yoga, mooching around town, a swanky lunch – we’ve got it covered.

What’s the idea behind the “easy living” style?

The concept is stylish simplicity. By using lovely, soft fabrics and neat design details you can look great with minimum fuss; it’s effortless, laid-back chic. Our home and yoga accessories compliment this style perfectly by placing equal emphasis on style and comfort.

Who is your brand targeted at?

Fashion lovers with a conscious approach to what they buy and anyone who can appreciate the love that goes into creating an exclusive product that’s made to last.

How do you ensure that your brand remains conscientious?

We’re committed to working consciously by making sure that our products are traceable through the supply chain. Each season we purchase more and more fabrics from UK mills, keeping things as local as possible.

What benefits are there to producing your collections in London?

Aside from the obvious environmental advantages – including avoiding unnecessary emissions – it’s much easier to keep an eye on things as it allows you to work closely with the manufacturers. It’s important to establish a positive working relationship especially at the beginning.

Have you designed anything that you feel should be a worldwide everyday essential?

I think that everyone should own our drawstring silk pants with ankle zips. They’re a super stylish wardrobe essential and feel like a second skin. Our floral printed yoga bolster comes a close second, as it’s the ultimate in relaxation and the perfect antidote to a stressful day.

Is there anyone you’d love to collaborate with?

If PJ Harvey ever fancied a turn at designing I’d be first in line!

Have there been any career highlights so far?

Being interviewed for a Vogue article that’s due to appear next month was pretty cool.

Any big plans for the future?

I want to keep doing what I love: building the brand whilst continuing to work consciously and see where it takes me.  I believe everything will unfold as it’s meant to, although a concession in Selfridges in a few years’ time would be lovely!
