Isabel Marant designs her first and last menswear collection for H&M

Isabel Marant designs her first and last menswear collection for H&M

As we told you back in June, the fantastic Isabel Marant has collaborated with H&M for their latest designer collection. Last week the fashion world went a little crazy when images of Marant’s designs were leaked online – in case you didn’t know, it’s amazing!

What’s really exciting about this particular designer collaboration with the Swedish fashion brand, is that Marant has included a menswear collection. This is the same Isabel Marant who has never before, and has no intention to ever again, release a menswear collection. It’s almost more desirable than her womenswear for H&M.

The French Designer said: “Friends and customers have been pushing me for years, asking for a men’s version of the careless and easy Isabel Marant style. When I first started talking about the collection with H&M, we all felt that it was the perfect timing. But, honestly, for the time being I have no intention of adding men’s wear to my workload.”

The pieces Marant has designed for the menswear part of her rather large collection, includes basic t-shirts, chunky knits, suede boots, wool coats, biker trousers and jeans with Navajo-inspired embroidery.

The designer explains: “I think that a sense of reality defines my approach to fashion in general, and this men’s capsule in particular. While designing it, I thought of men of any age with a fast life and a desire to wear clothes that are comfortable but not obvious,” and that “I wanted this element to be apparent in the campaign, too. I chose men representing men of today, each one with their distinctive personality. That’s always my message: The collection is about individual interpretation.”

For the collection’s advertising campaign, H&M have selected four rather handsome faces from different walks of life and not just the world of modelling. Actor Niels Schneider, musician Christopher Owens and architect Guillaume Macé, join model Clément Chabernaud in the print and television campaign due to be released next week.

The Isabel Marant collection will be available in selected H&M stores and online from 14th November.
