Hanro store opening in London

Hanro store opening in London

Just in time for the Christmas season, luxury lingerie and loungewear brand Hanro opened its doors on South Molton Street in London this month.

The brand has been operating since 1884. Founded by Albert Handschin in Liestal, Switzerland, the brand got its name from the two business partners Handschin and Ronus.

Hanro products are all made of highest quality silk and cotton for maximum comfort and a perfect fit. With the years, Hanro has combined comfort and style, launching feminine and fashionable underwear collections.

The brand has become popular in Hollywood since the 1950s, with celebrity customers including the bombshell Marilyn Monroe, Nicole Kidman and Sharon Stone.

Managing director Stephan Hohmann says there are still many celebrities among the Hanro customers: “There are a lot of celebrities wearing Hanro, and they don’t write to us, you know, but we have shop-in-shops all over the world, and our sales girls tell us who has been buying.”

“We are very proud of it. We cannot advertise it because they are our customers, but we talk about it. It’s a best kept secret. We cannot put logos on them – it’s underwear, and we have to be very discreet.”

The launch of the brand’s first UK store was also filled with stars. Actress Emelia Fox, TV presenter Laura Hamilton, Made in Chelsea star Rosie Fortescue and Bond girl Honor Blackman are only some of the famous guests who showed up at the store launch.
