It’s that time of year again folks – the time to get out the pumpkins, turn off the lights and dish out sweets to those little monsters we call kids!

Only lately it isn’t just the kids who are craving attention. It now seems that 31^st October is transforming us adults into over-zealous freaks. We now want to go to the best party and we won’t stop until we have found the perfect outfit, sometimes even throwing a bit of a strop if we hear Lucy down the road is now dressing up as Avatar too!

It is becoming more and more difficult to come up with something truly unique, something truly shocking, something that will have fellow partiers gasping in awe – or disgust. So we really should take a look at some of the most talked about (for good or bad reasons) outfits out there.

Heidi Klum’s inside-out human body

Heidi is a Halloween fanatic and has showcased a fabulous selection of outfits at her renowned Halloween parties over the years, but this one has to be our favourite. The hand-painted costume of human anatomy amazed onlookers with its intricacies, and her shocking entrance of being wheeled in on a hospital bed by two blood-splattered doctors topped it all off.

Chris Brown dressed as the Taliban

The singer has already sparked a frenzy of controversy over the years but took it to another level in 2012 when he dressed up as the Taliban for Halloween, and posted a pic of himself and his gang all sporting similar outfits. It certainly had people talking.

Brook Shields as Uncle Fester from The Adams Family

Nobody could recognise Brook as she stepped out in her Uncle Fester costume in 2011. The model’s beauty was concealed by slathers of white paint, a swimming cap to hide her lustrous hair and she even exhibited a light bulb in her mouth! Her two children, also garbed in Adams Family characters, made the perfect accessories.

Prince Harry as a Nazi

And who can forget the charming Prince Harry turned up to a friend’s party dressed as a Nazi. Probably not the best outfit for a royal of German descent to wear, but it definitely created the most attention. The prince was forced to make a public apology. We’re sure he won’t be sporting a swastika again anytime soon.

Tesco and Asda’s “Mental Patient” costumes

Last month the two popular supermarkets, Asda and Tesco, were forced to withdraw their “Mental Patient” Halloween costumes as they were criticised for stigmatising people with mental illness.  Asda’s costume included ragged clothing, splattered with fake blood, a mask, and a fake meat cleaver while Tesco’s “Psycho Ward” costume came as an orange boiler suit featuring a jaw restraint and fake machete.  Both chains apologised for any offence after they quickly cleared the outfits from their shelves.
