Sensual lighting, scented rose petals, decadent aphrodisiac platters, fuzzy feelings of contentment and a magnum of Cristal on ice. This is what you call Valentines on fire (limited to the lucky few among us) – we hope that you will achieve something along these lines this year…so much so that we thought we would give you a helping hand. Here is a selection of handpicked top London restaurants for the food lovers among us. Look no further for a little inspiration, whether you’re planning that long awaited proposal or just want to show your loved one a good time (without all the lovely dovey stuff).

Clos MaggioreClos_Maggiore_-_Conservatory_photo_4

Voted London’s sexiest and most romantic restaurant for the last two years, Clos Maggiore has to be at the top of our list. Although not one for those trying to keep the evening low-key, the beautiful table setting and atmospheric surroundings are sure to win you double points! Here you’ll find a selection of European cuisine of the highest standard: choose from Fois Gras, Arctic pickled herring and even toasted brioche to get the juices flowing. A 3-course set menu will set you back just £49.50 per person. This won’t break the bank – just make sure it doesn’t break any hearts either.

Clos Maggiore is located on 33 King Street Covent Garden, to book a table call 020 7379 9696 or for further information visit here.

Launceston Place1317130136LP-AboutUs-rest-653x279

This is a super extravagant option for your Valentine. Dine at their Chef’s Table, where the specially created menu is personally delivered to your table by the head chef Tim Allen. Sit back and relax while the restaurant team go the extra mile to make your evening the little bit more special by adding flowers and sourcing your favourite bottle of vintage champagne ahead of your arrival. This all comes at a cost of a minimum spend of £500 – not for the tight budget but definitely an experience that will impress.

Launceston Place is located on 1A Launceston Pl London W8 5RL, to book a table call 020 7937 6912 or for further information visit here.

Amico Bioglasses

The brainchild of chef Pasquale Amico, this is the ultimate veggie foodie destination. Rustic and chic, this place screams of old school romance of the biological kind. Italian food is the food of love, so where better place to spend your evening, especially if you’re trying to please and woo a vegetarian dining guest! Choose from Aubergine, Basil and Smoked Cheese Roulade, Fried Gnocchi with Courgettes and Kinara Cheese and even the all-vegan option of Vegan Cake with Amarena Cherries and Raspberries. With an inspirational selection costing just £35 per person, including a glass of prosecco with complimentary olives, you just can’t go wrong.

Amico Bio is located on 43 New Oxford Street London WC1A 1BH, to book a table call 020 7836 7509 or for further information visit here.

Meat Liquor120212STERestau04_2133828c

For those looking for a more alternative Valentine’s night, head to Meat Liquor. Super cool, trendy and downright dirty, you aren’t going to win any hearts here with faddy daddy bistro food. Thick steak cheese burgers and chilli dogs are your calling here, all washed down with a Black Cow Coke Floats. At prices ranging from £8 for a Bacon Cheese Burger to just £8.50 for a Pastrami Dog, eat until your heart’s content and you’ll still have some money left over for a night on the town (if you can face it).

Meat Liquor is located on 74 Welbeck St London W1G 0BA, to book a table call 020 7224 4239 or for further information visit here.

Le Gavroche14

Michel Roux Jr’s pride and joy, and the number one dinner destination for the rich and famous, Le Gavroche is famed for its old school haute cuisine selection of deliciousness in the beautiful surroundings of the prestigious restaurant venue. You are sure to be wined and dined by pure excellence this Valentines Day if you splash out at Le Gavroche. Indulge in a Black Pudding, Crumbed Egg, Crackling Asparagus Salad followed by Roast Veal Head and Sweetbreads, Pimento, Egg and Caper Dressing finishing with with Amedei Chocolate, Peanut Brittle, Caramel and Banana, all paired with a chilled bottle of Côte-de-Nuits Villages 2006.

La Gavroche is located on 43 Upper Brook St London W1K 7QR, to book a table call 020 7408 088 or for further information visit here.
