Swedish folk duo First Aid Kit are back with their striking new album Stay Gold; with its folksy-infused beats and heartfelt lyrics it is sure to be a success for any listener.stay

Their opening single My Silver Lining introduces Johanna and Klara Söderberg as strong, independent ladies as their unique and distinctive vocals instantly grab our attention amid the brilliant instrumental. Moments of power are shown through title track Stay Gold and The Bell as we lose ourselves in the production of the album. The instrumentals are so strong that they carry the song in a new, empowering direction. In later songs, such as Heaven Knows, a spark of energy is infused into the album and we are able to witness the fun side to these ladies.

Yet in Shattered & Hollow the duo strip back and the intensity shines through, allowing the endearing lyrics to take centre focus and genuinely move listeners. Stand-out songs, such as Waitress Song, have a perfect blend of striking lyrics and powerful beats that gives an overall added depth, showcasing the talent that First Aid Kit possess.

The album concludes with the beautifully moving A Long Time Ago, which completely contrasts with the rest of the album. The reflective lyrics paint a stunning image, with a message so universal that even if you lose yourself in their story, you diverge into your own: a true success. Ultimately, this song completes their latest endeavour in a striking way that should be applauded. First Aid Kit have created a masterpiece that captures every emotion humanly possible in the unpredictable existence we call life.
