Spring 2015 hair trend: Braids revisited

Spring 2015 hair trend: Braids revisited

Let’s be honest, it is not always easy to recreate the intricate hairstyles we see floating down the catwalks at fashion weeks. But if there was ever a time to brush up on your hair braiding skills it’s right now!

It is not the first time braids have been a big deal, we have practically been working this trend since we had hair that was long enough and it’s fair to say braids are one trend that won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

The coming-undone style is extremely hot right now as deconstructed bohemian braids tie in perfectly with the 70s trend.  Low braids work best for this style, and extra loose, lived-in looks with plenty of wisps floating around the face are what we love. Using dry shampoo and volumizing spray help achieve this slightly messy style – we suggest you wear your braids with bell-bottoms to really bring that retro vibe we saw all over the catwalk for S/S 2015.

If you are more about the classic braid then why not side part your hair and sweep your locks to one side to create a revamp of a simpler style. This look is pretty and elegant, and works with almost any look. Plus it’s super simple to do so there’s not need for looks of practice with this one!

Of course, for the more experienced braiders, there’s plenty to get your teeth stuck into, but be warned, it’s may take a little practice to perfect the more intricate designs. Mix things up a little by changing the traditional three piece to a fishtail plait, basket weave or French braid. Each create a unique and interesting look, which is sure to impress your friends, and after a little practice they’re not too difficult to do! You can rework these styles to form a huge variety of looks; the possibilities are endless and there are tonnes of tutorials online to help brush up your braiding skills.
