Celebrity siblings: Those who share the spotlight and those who go it alone

Celebrity siblings: Those who share the spotlight and those who go it alone

The Olsen twins were once the most famous siblings out there. Twin girls who had their big break on American TV show Full House back in the eighties, they quickly became household names. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, now 28, soon turned their focus to fashion and have since become style icons and even run several fashion lines based all around the world.

Since the beautiful blonde duo made their name in the world of showbiz it seems famous siblings have been popping up everywhere. Perhaps the most well-known and potentially most popular are the Kardashians, and more recently their younger sisters, the Jenners.

Kourtney, Kim and Khloé Kardashian found fame with their own reality TV show Keeping up with the Kardashians – ten series in and the entire family has become tabloid royalty. No family has created a brand as well as the Kardashians and the three sisters seem to have put their name on everything: clothing lines, beauty products, books, mobile phone apps, calendars, fitness DVDs, candles – you name it, the Kardashian ladies have done it!

Attending events as a threesome, appearing on TV shows together and coming up with new and inspiring ways to grab the media’s attention, these three beauties more than share the spotlight – they share their entire lives, and it seems they have passed on their knack for attracting attention to their younger siblings, Kylie and Kendall Jenner.

The Jenner girls, both just teenagers, have become celebrities in their own right but unlike their sisters, although they share the same name and often the limelight, they have taken different routes to do so. It is true that Kendall and Kylie wrote a novel together and even run a fashion line as a partnership, but Kendall is a full-time model and Kylie has her own hair extensions collection. They often attend parties and occasions hand in hand but they have managed to create their own images and their own brands.

Although Kylie and Kendall have remained as somewhat of a duo, the only thing that connects some celebrity siblings is the striking resemblance, for example Chris and Liam Hemsworth.

The Australian brothers are both successful actors who are yet to star in a movie together but have more then made it on their own. Chris struck gold with his role as Thor on the wildly popular Marvel movies and his younger brother Liam landed the sought-after part of Gale in The Hunger Games. You may see them supporting each other at the odd film premiere or social event but neither Chris nor Liam make a point of discussing who their brother is.

Some celebrity siblings have to share the limelight because that is how their career works, others will find that sharing the spotlight may not be in their favour!
