Every once in a while, all the forces in the universe come together to provide us with the perfect holiday. This year, Hallmark’s favourite holiday falls on a Sunday. So instead of spending this one with residual anxiety about Monday while watching Netflix on repeat, take your pick from our top five places to have a cosy lunch with your Valentine, secret or not. Ranging from fancy to low-key, these restaurants have the best to offer.

Sketch, Mayfair
What could be better than a decadent afternoon in the Michelin two-star Lecture Room & Library at Sketch? This eccentric space in the heart of the city has created a special Valentine’s menu to please you and yours. The set menu includes a ticket for the Manet: Portraying Life exhibition at the Royal Academy, along with a range of dishes to choose from, including but not limited to foie gras, oyster gratin, guinea fowl and an enviable cheese board. A four-course lunch (inclusive of coffee and dessert) with tickets to the exhibition is priced at £65 per person, £55 without a visit to the gallery.

To book a table at Sketch, 9 Conduit Street, London, W1S 2XG, call 020 7659 4500 or visit here.

Sexy Fish, Berkeley Square
Asian revelation Sexy Fish has a catch of the day on its menu for your catch. The destination promises to provide the best romantic ambience in town with a great menu, cocktails and a musical performance! A five-course tasting menu is available for the entire weekend, priced at £95 per person, which includes a signature cocktail and a sexy goody bag to take home. If that’s not enough, you also have the option of ordering from their a la carte menu instead for old favourites.

The restaurant is conveniently located in the coveted neighbourhood of Chelsea that is perfect for an intimate stroll afterwards. The half-price Chateaubriand menu is priced at £29.40 per person.

La Portes des Indes
Brunch is a good reason to get up on a Sunday. It’s even better if it is accompanied by jazz and fusion food. This hidden gem in Bryanston Street has two floors of seating and a coveted spread that is carefully designed to indulge. The fare is primarily influenced by French Indian colony Pondicherry, and does not disappoint. The brunch is priced at £40 per person.

To book a table at La Portes des Indes, 32 Bryanston Street, London W1H 7EG, call 020 7224 0055 or visit here.

Chiltern Firehouse, Marylebone
Chiltern Firehouse does lunch well, and the atmosphere is only part of the reason. Their standout dishes include rock oysters, bacon cornbread, maple-glazed salmon and more. If you want to impress your date or just enjoy a few uninterrupted hours of a lazy lunch in a converted firehouse, then Chiltern is definitely the place to be.
