According to the latest update, 18 UK universities are on the World Top 100 Universities list, which confirms their reputation, quality and popularity. However, when the competition is tough, applicants need to find a way to split from the mass of other young adults with the same goal. Fortunately, it’s possible to find success with the help of some pointers.

Keeping an open mind

It’s easy to check the list above and find out which universities in the United Kingdom are the best, but these are not the only options available. Instead of opting automatically for the best rated, it’s worth researching all the options across the entire country and comparing the educational programs they offer. That way it’s possible to see which ones meet the relevant requirements and expectations.

Convincing them to make an offer

What makes one candidate different from the next? Good grades are not going to be enough, so hopefuls have to give something more. It is advisable to get some practical experience before applying, for instance, taking a summer course or volunteering somewhere to improve knowledge and skills. With some extra experience, the chances of getting an offer will be increased!

English language skills

For non-native English speakers, language improvement is going to be mandatory. These applicants will need to provide certification that confirms their proficiency. Of course, learning the language also helps with adapting to the new lifestyle, mentality and living place, and makes it more straightforward understanding the lessons at university. In the case of completed applications where there is a worry about quality, it’s a good idea to choose a proofreading service, for example Letsgradeit, or hire an experienced writer who will improve papers and fix any mistakes.

Writing a proper personal statement

Here comes the most challenging part for every future student: it is expected that every applicant be able to describe clearly why they want to attend a particular university, and exactly why they have the potential to become an asset. Keep in mind that UK universities receive hundreds (or even thousands) of personal statements each year, so candidates need to be creative, as well as ensure that statements are free of any grammatical or spelling mistakes.

Even those with knowledge of the English language at the highest level won’t necessarily be good writers. Because of that, hiring an online writing service can be an excellent boost. There are many of them around, but not all of them will offer the same quality of services. Because of that, it’s recommended that prospective users read testimonials and detailed ratings (for example the review of Grab My Essay here) before spending any money. Making a mistake can be costly in this case.

The importance of references

References serve as an additional confirmation for the university that shows who truly deserves their attention. Prospective students should ask teachers, mentors, advisors or anyone else of standing to write a recommendation to include with the other application forms. Whoever writes the reference should know exactly who they are recommending! Only someone who really knows the qualities and achievements of an applicant will manage to write a convincing letter about them.

Final thoughts

Clearly, good grades are not going to be enough to stand out from hundreds of other candidates. To reach the goal of a place at a top university it’s imperative to have a perfect personal statement and references from the right people. Most importantly, the letters and forms must be proofread before being sent, or run by the online writing services mentioned, whose staff can check everything out. If all goes well, there is a good chance of becoming a student at a UK university next year!

Michael Carr

Michael Carr has worked as an essay writer and proofreader for more than two years. He has helped many students improve the quality of their personal statements and raise their chances to get an offer from different UK universities.
