With the spotlight increasingly on the fashion industry and its growing environmental footprint, many new and emerging brands are finding innovative ways to create stylish swimwear that’s kinder to the environment. Sunnier days are firmly in sight, so we’ve lined up the eco-friendly and sustainable bikini brands that will last you for many holidays to come.

Away that Day

Founded in 2018 with a goal to create stylish and eco-friendly swimwear for women, this British brand does not disappoint. Away that Day is made in the heart of London and uses kinder-to-nature fabrics and 100% compostable packaging, as well as running their own “recycle your swim” initiative, where old swimwear from any brand can be sent into their studios in exchange for a discount code to be used on a future purchase.

Away that Day’s signature Palma bikini top features a plunging neckline and fully adjustable straps, and is designed to give your bust a natural lift without any padding or underwire. The top comes in a range of shades, which can be worn with a selection of different briefs including this sexy Brazilian style or super chic high-waisted pair.

Adora Swim

Sustainability is at the heart of Adora Swim’s ethos. Their swimwear is made from 100% regenerated nylon, Econyl, which uses repurposed materials such as fishing nets to form the fabric.

Being eco-friendly doesn’t mean that style must suffer and Adora Swim proves this. When it comes to this season’s staple swimwear, you can’t go wrong with a classic white bikini. Their Tide top has a simplistic, underwired bra cup design to provide support and enhance your cleavage. Pair with their White Reef high-waisted bottoms to accentuate your natural curves and elongate your legs with their high-cut design.

Evarae

If you’re looking for one splurge piece of swimwear this summer, Evarae’s Cassandra one piece is the epitome of poolside chic. The square neckline and removable fabric-covered belt create a timeless, vintage-inspired 60s pin-up look. The swimsuit is made with Econyl using sustainable manufacturing processes and comes in nine different colourways, but the pastel combination of Tuscan Sun and Granada Sky is a firm favourite. Plus, all their trims are made of natural and renewable materials of vegetable origin.

Whilst it’s definitely on the pricier side, this conscious luxury swimwear will last for years to come. The brand’s commitment to ethical and sustainable swimwear also extends to their orders as they promise to plant a tree with every order made online.

Tide + Seek

With a store in Newquay, Tide + Seek’s roots lie firmly with the ocean, thanks to founder Sammy’s passion for surfing. Sammy spent the company’s early stages visiting different swimwear factories in Bali, determined to find one that would complement the brand’s philosophy. Here, the swimwear is made using Repreve fabric, which is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Using this fabric offsets the need for new petroleum, reducing the amount of greenhouse gases while conserving water and energy throughout the process.

This company’s swimwear comes in a selection of playful designs, with choices between multi-coloured tie-dye and striking bold prints. This triangle plunge bikini top has been designed in collaboration with London-based street artist Rosie Woods. The tie-dye print combines pinks, purples, blues and yellows for a standout piece, and can be paired with a selection of bottoms, like this cheeky coverage pair.

Tucca Swim

If you’re searching for reversible swimwear that offers style and versatility, Tucca Swim could be the brand for you. With cool and quirky prints on one side and bold block colours on the other, this two-in-one Flamenco Orange Scoop swimsuit will see you through several holiday looks.

Made from 78% Econyl and eco-friendly Italian fabrics, Tucca Swim’s sets are made to last. You can choose to pair them with a matching scrunchie and a multi-way Flamenco-print sarong to complete your beach vibe. But if you’re just looking for the perfect bikini, their new Bourgainvillea SS22 Collection combines frills and florals and is available to pre-order now.
