Adriana Cavita launches El Bar de Cavita beneath the restaurant

In heart of Marylebone, a new bar experience awaits as chef patron Adriana Cavita, famed for her eponymous Mexican restaurant, unveils her latest venture, El Bar de Cavita. Set to open its doors to the public on 16th February, the bar promises a taste of Mexico with a selection of margaritas, mezcal and street food, capturing the essence of traditional cantinas.

El Bar de Cavita strips back the pretence to focus on delivering exceptional drinks, including their signature Watermelon Margarita, a classic mezcalita, and a unique Corn Old Fashioned made with Abasolo Mexican corn whiskey. Patrons can also indulge in Tepache, a traditional fermented pineapple drink, and a diverse range of Mexican spirits, from rare mezcals to the lesser-known Sotol and Koch. A house flight featuring Adriana’s favourite mezcals will be available for those keen to explore all of the spirit’s nuances.

Food at the bar will be served in true street food fashion, designed to be enjoyed with your hands, complementing the mezcal cocktails. The menu, crafted by the chef, features dishes inspired by the street stalls of her childhood. Highlights include the Chutoro Tostada, with its combination of soft tuna belly and avocado on a tostada, and the Quesabirria, a taco filled with slow-cooked beef shin and crispy fried cheese, served with a beef consommé for dipping.

Adriana Cavita brings over 13 years of culinary experience to her new bar, including time spent at acclaimed restaurants such as El Bulli and Pujol. Her approach to Mexican cuisine blends respect for tradition with a flair for innovation. El Bar de Cavita reflects this philosophy, offering an authentic yet contemporary Mexican experience.

The bar will operate from Wednesday to Saturday, 6pm to 12:30am, accommodating up to 44 seated guests and a standing capacity of 60-70. With vibrant music and rustic Mexican-inspired decor, El Bar de Cavita aspires to be a high-energy spot that echoes the warmth of a traditional cantina.
