Air celebrate Moon Safari 25th anniversary with Royal Albert Hall show and European tour

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut album Moon Safari, French electronic music duo Air are set to release a deluxe edition of the album on 8th March 2024. Published by Parlophone/Warner Music, this special edition will not only feature a Spatial Dolby Atmos audio version of the original album but also include super rare or previously unreleased tracks, alongside Mike Mills’ 1998 documentary film Eating, Sleeping, Waiting & Playing, which chronicles the band’s first worldwide tour. The reissue comes in response to the enormous success and demand following the announcement that Air will perform the album in its entirety across Europe for the first time this February and March.

Due to the original tour dates selling out swiftly, Air have added more live performances into late spring and summer, including a notable appearance at The Royal Albert Hall in London on 30th May and a headline show at the legendary Sonar Festival in Barcelona. Other key dates across Europe have also been announced, as fans eagerly anticipate the chance to experience the iconic album live.

Moon Safari catapulted Air, consisting of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel, to significant fame upon its release, despite the duo’s humble aspirations at the time. With hit singles like Kelly Watch the Stars, All I Need and Sexy Boy, the album sold millions of copies worldwide and established Air as headliners at major festivals. The album’s impact was profound, influencing a wide array of artists across genres and generations, from David Bowie and Madonna to newer talents like Charlotte Gainsbourg and Sofia Coppola.

As the album marks its 25th year, its enduring appeal is evident, with Dunckel describing Moon Safari as “a deep, universal spell, full of love and mystery”, and Godin regarding it as perfect. This reissue and the upcoming live dates offer fans old and new the opportunity to revisit or discover the magic of Moon Safari and its significant place in the landscape of electronic music.
