Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have announced the impending release of their 18th studio album, Wild God, due to drop on 30th August 2024. The album, recorded at Miraval Studios, showcases a blend of emotional depth and infectious joy, according to frontman Nick Cave. With a mix of convention and experimentation, the ten-track album promises a journey through the band’s evolving sound, marked by moments of reconnection and bold strides into new musical territories. Produced by Cave and Warren Ellis and mixed by David Fridmann, Wild God also features contributions from Colin Greenwood and Luis Almau. The announcement was accompanied by the release of The Making of Wild God Part One, directed by Megan Cullen, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the album’s creation.

Cave expressed his hopes for the record’s impact, stating, “I hope the album has the effect on listeners that it’s had on me. It bursts out of the speaker, and I get swept up with it. It’s a complicated record, but it’s also deeply and joyously infectious.” He further elaborated on the album’s straightforward nature, “Wild God…there’s no fucking around with this record. When it hits, it hits. It lifts you. It moves you. I love that about it.”

The album will be available on streaming platforms, CD and standard vinyl, with limited edition grey and clear vinyl also up for pre-order. Wild God is a partnership release between Bad Seed and Play It Again Sam, featuring tracks like Song of the Lake among others.

In addition to the album release, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds have announced their first headline tour of the UK and Europe since 2017, spanning 17 countries this Autumn. The tour is set to showcase the band’s reputation as one of the greatest live acts today, with performances across major cities including London, Paris and Berlin. The tour will feature support acts such as Dry Cleaning and The Murder Capital, promising a series of highly anticipated shows.
