Marceline brasserie opens in Canary Wharf

Marceline brasserie opens in Canary Wharf

Marceline, a new French-inspired brasserie, has opened its doors in Canary Wharf’s Wood Wharf on 5th August 2024.The establishment aims to blend Parisian brasserie elegance with New York café culture, offering a menu created by chef Robert Aikens, who has previously worked at venues such as La Gavrouche and in New York, where he spent 15 years, at Pastis.

The brasserie feature a selection of dishes that include Skate Kiev with Pomme Purée, Escargots de Bourgogne, Steak Frites With Maître d’Hôtel Butter, and Ravioli du Dauphine. The desserts selection includes mouthwatering options the likes of as Apple Tarte Fine and Rose Water Madeleines.

The drink menu highlights a range of signature cocktails, among which there are the Two Sips Martini and the Absinthe Sour, to be enjoyed at the table or at the bar, Salon Marceline. The curated wine list focuses on independent, family-run producers, assembled by sommelier Jeffrey Koren, formerly of Maaemo in Norway. Ranging from typically Italian wines from neighbouring Slovenia, an affordable white Burgundy, and a British sparkling as the house fizz, the drinks menu showcases an intriguing variety.

Marceline’s design, crafted by HURLÉ MARTÍN, features double ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a mix of Parisian and modern elements, complemented by modern banquette seating, sculptural light fixtures and soft leathers. The venue also offers an al fresco terrace and a balcony area overlooking the main dining space, which can be converted into a semi-private event area.

The brasserie is the brainchild of a team led by Levent Büyükugur, Simon Dewhurst, and Hus Vedat, with Liam Nelson (co-founder of Pastaio in 2017) as the Operational Director.

Through a warm, personal approach, Marceline proposes a convivial atmosphere with the classic customs and energy of the Parisian restaurants. Open from morning until late, the new opening is set as charming destination for relaxing breakfasts, long lunches, dinner for business or pleasure, and aperitifs.
