“Everyone’s miserable because they’re being deprived of the one thing they love; which is blood”: Damian Lewis on The Radleys

“Everyone’s miserable because they’re being deprived of the one thing they love; which is blood”: Damian Lewis on The Radleys

Leaning into the horror genre, The Radleys is a comedy-drama based on the book of the same name by Matt Haig. The premise explores one suburban family navigating a burdening secret that becomes exposed when their teenage daughter is assaulted in the woods after a party. Her dormant vampire instinct rises to the surface and the rest of the family are left to cover up the gory results of her actions.

Damian Lewis stars as the patriarch of the family, Peter, alongside Kelly Macdonald as his long-suffering wife. The pair have chosen to abstain from their bloodsucking ways, but are soon drawn back in when this new chapter of events starts to unfold. Lewis also switches between two roles as he steps into the shoes of Peter’s wayward rock and roll twin, Uncle Will, who arrives unannounced to help with the collateral damage that’s been caused.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Lewis about choosing to take on this role, coming on board as the executive producer and the family dynamics that play out on screen.

The Radleys is released on Sky on 18th October 2024.
