Ryan Chetiyawardana launches new travel and mixology TV series Mr Lyan’s Taste Trips

Award-winning mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan, launches a new television series titled Mr Lyan’s Taste Trips. The series, created in collaboration with reachTV and Ink, a travel media production house, explores the rich hospitality cultures of various cities. The first episode was released on 26th March and features an in-depth look at Japan’s relationship with whisky, the craft of traditional shoyu, and what is claimed to be the world’s best pizza.

Mr Lyan’s Taste Trips promises to offer viewers a cultural and culinary exploration, delving into each destination’s local flavours, traditions, and community stories. The eight-part series will visit other vibrant locations such as Scotland, Mexico, London, and New York. Episodes will be available on YouTube and broadcast on ReachTV, the world’s leading airport TV network serving 2400+ gates, over 950 F&B venues in 90 commercial airports.

Ryan Chetiyawardana has been a prominent figure in the drinks industry, because of his approach to sustainable and innovative mixology. His journey began 11 years ago with the inauguration of White Lyan in Hoxton, among the first bars in the UK to emphasize zero waste. Over the years, Chetiyawardana has expanded his influence internationally, opening multiple projects including Dandelyan, Lyaness, and more recently, Silver Lyan in Washington DC in 2020. In 2022, Ryan launched his latest bar Seed Library in 100 Shoreditch, a laid-back neighbourhood cocktail spot in the heart of East London. Mr Lyan brand includes a retail range of five bottled cocktails, available to buy from Selfridges and online at Master of Malt, as well as his cocktail seasonings Three Families, available through Mangrove and on DELLI.

Throughout the new video series, My Lyan will share personal anecdotes and expert advice on food and drink pairings, introducing viewers to both iconic and lesser-known culinary spots. Each episode aims to offer a signature cocktail inspired by the local tastes and experiences encountered. The series also emphasizes the importance of sustainable practices and conscious consumption. Chetiyawardana showcases how mindfulness in consumption can be integrated into travel and hospitality, reflecting the core values that have been central to his global ventures.

By combining travel with an in-depth look at culinary arts, Mr Lyan’s Taste Trips aims to connect viewers more closely with the diverse cultures and communities around the world.
