Prime Video sets May 2025 premiere for Nine Perfect Strangers season two with new cast and Austrian Alps setting

Prime Video has released the official trailer for the second season of its drama series, Nine Perfect Strangers, which is scheduled to premiere on 22nd May 2025. The new season relocates the action to the Austrian Alps and features nine new characters who attend an unconventional wellness retreat led by the enigmatic Masha Dmitrichenko, portrayed by Nicole Kidman. The first two episodes will become available to stream on the launch date, with subsequent instalments released weekly until the series finale on 3rd July 2025.

The second series introduces a new ensemble cast, including Henry Golding, Lena Olin, Annie Murphy, Christine Baranski, Lucas Englander, King Princess, Murray Bartlett, Dolly de Leon, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Mark Strong and Aras Aydin, alongside returning lead Kidman.

Nine Perfect Strangers is centred on a group of nine individuals who, unbeknownst to one another, are brought together at a luxury health and wellness centre for a week-long retreat intended to transform their lives. The retreat is run by Masha Dmitrichenko, described as a “mysterious guru” who is “willing to try anything in the interest of healing everyone involved, including herself”. As the narrative unfolds, participants are pushed to their limits through psychedelic therapy sessions in the isolated Zauberwald resort.

The series is produced by David E Kelley, known for his work on Big Little Lies, together with Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories, Kidman’s Blossom Films, and FIFTH SEASON, with FIFTH SEASON also handling distribution. Executive producers include David E Kelley, Kidman, Per Saari, Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, Molly Allen, Jonathan Levine, Rachel Shukert, Liane Moriarty, Matthew Tinker, Anthony Byrne, and JH Butterworth.

Based on a novel by Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers achieved international acclaim during its first season for its exploration of trauma and unconventional healing practices. Series two shifts the setting from the original California backdrop to Austria, placing its new cast in unfamiliar territory, both physically and emotionally.
