Apple renews hit golf comedy Stick for season two as Owen Wilson returns to lead the charge

Apple TV+ has confirmed a second season of its breakout sports comedy Stick, with Owen Wilson set to reprise his role as the washed-up golf pro with a heart of gold. The renewal comes on the same day the show’s first season wraps with its season finale, Déjà Vu All Over Again, now streaming globally.
Created by Jason Keller (Bridge of Spies, Treason), Stick follows Pryce Cahill (Wilson), a former golf prodigy whose career and personal life have both fallen apart. Working in a small-town sporting goods store and reeling from a failed marriage, Pryce pins his future on mentoring Santi, a volatile 17-year-old golf prodigy played by Peter Dager. What unfolds is a feel-good story about redemption, second chances, and the unexpected bonds of a chosen family – all told through a world of golf rarely explored on screen.
Following widespread critical praise and a warm audience reception, Apple has signalled its confidence in the series with a second season greenlight. Season one was hailed as “a hole-in-one”, “ideal comfort viewing”, and a “summer must-watch”. The ensemble cast includes Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Judy Greer and Timothy Olyphant, with guest appearances from golf stars like Collin Morikawa and Keegan Bradley, and surprise cameos from broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman.
“I’m thrilled to be making a second season with this magical cast, led by the incomparable Owen Wilson,” said creator Jason Keller. “Most importantly, this season two order will provide me with an undeniable excuse to play even more golf.”
Wilson added, “It’s really nice to see the show connecting with people and to know that we get a chance to continue the story. I think we all had a great time making it.”
Apple’s Head of Programming, Matt Cherniss, praised the team’s ability to deliver a world that audiences “instantly fell in love with”, promising “plenty more in the bag” for fans of the show.
Produced by Apple Studios, the series is executive produced by Keller, Wilson, and a team that includes Ben Silverman, Guymon Casady and directing duo Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris. With heartfelt storytelling and low-key humour, Stick continues Apple’s tradition of character-led, genre-defying comedies – and it looks like this story has plenty more rounds to play.
