Spanish tapas restaurant Lírica to open at The Cumberland Hotel this January

Spanish tapas restaurant Lírica to open at The Cumberland Hotel this January

A new Spanish tapas restaurant called Lírica is scheduled to open inside The Cumberland Hotel at Marble Arch this January. The venue will offer a menu of traditional small plates alongside a Spanish-only wine list and a curated cocktail selection, aiming to introduce a contemporary dining experience that reflects the culinary diversity of Spain in a central London setting.

Lírica (meaning “lyrical poetry”) will seat 75 guests and serve lunch and dinner daily. The restaurant’s menu will feature a range of classic tapas dishes including favourites like Iberico ham croquetas, patatas bravas, gambas, gazpacho, pan con tomate and chipirones (bite-sized squid). Desserts such as homemade Basque cheesecake and churros will also be available. Drinks, served in a dedicated bar area, will feature a selection of Spanish wines, spirits and beers, as well as sangria and cocktails such as a Jose Collins and a Vanilla Margarita.

The interior design for the new eatery will blend modern and retro influences, combining earthy tones such as terracotta and olive green with natural wood finishes and soft lighting. Curved bars, plush seating, abstract art and sculptural lighting are intended to create a relaxed yet stylish dining atmosphere.

The Cumberland Hotel, known for its musical heritage and central location near Oxford Street and Hyde Park, has hosted numerous music legends over the decades. The new opening forms part of their continued food and beverage revamp – a second major addition, the UK’s first Hell’s Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay, is expected to open at the property in spring 2026.

General manager Pedro da Silva enthused: “We’re excited to announce the opening of Lírica, a celebration of Spanish tapas and our shared love of music. Why Lírica? The name draws inspiration from our musical history, translating the soul of lyrics into a Spanish culinary experience. Opening January 2026, Lírica will serve authentic tapas inspired by the vibrant neighbourhoods of Spain, perfectly paired with wines and beers sourced exclusively from Spain. We look forward to introducing this new experience to our guests.”
