Little Sourdough Kitchen in Fulham to reopen under new ownership with refreshed menu and team

Little Sourdough Kitchen, a longstanding artisan bakery on Munster Road in Fulham, is reopening at the end of January following its recent acquisition by chef Phil Howard and restaurateur Julian Dyer. The bakery, which has been serving the local community for eight years, will undergo a brief refurbishment before welcoming customers back with its original team, a refreshed interior, and some updates to its menu. The changes come as the previous owner prepares to return to Italy and sought new custodians for the business.

Howard and Dyer, who have backgrounds in London’s restaurant scene, have brought in a new on-site leadership team. Anna Konig, who previously worked with Howard at Elystan Street and has since focused on baking, will be joined by Ben Costello, formerly of FARRO Bakery in Bristol. “Anna and Ben represent the future of this much-loved artisan bakery. They are young, incredibly talented and will evolve the product following a strong ethos using unique, varied, local and sustainable ingredients,” said Howard.

The bakery’s core offering – bread and viennoiserie – will remain central to its identity, and the full original team has been retained. While the core menu is being preserved, there will be new additions, including Brunsvieger, a Danish classic, and a Heritage Loaf made from spelt, einkorn, and rye. Ingredients will continue to be sourced from English suppliers such as Bruern Farm and Shrub.

The decision to acquire the bakery developed after conversations between Dyer, a long-time customer, and the previous owner. Initially, discussions centred on increasing focaccia production for Dyer and Howard’s restaurant group, NOTTO, but evolved as the owner decided to sell. “It was already an excellent bakery, that was the point. This wasn’t about coming in and changing something, it was about protecting it, supporting it, and helping it develop and expand,” Dyer explained.

The refurbishment, designed by Claire Nelson with cabinetry by Ollie Marks, will introduce natural wood, earthy textures, and a bright yellow palette intended to reflect the bakery’s spirit. Additionally, there are plans to partner with a local charity, furthering Little Sourdough Kitchen’s commitment to its neighbourhood.
