Shake Shack debuts limited-edition French onion menu at UK locations for spring 2026

American fast-casual chain Shake Shack has introduced a new limited-time menu inspired by the classic French onion soup. The French Onion menu will be available exclusively at all UK Shake Shack outlets from the 26th February to 20th May 2026, presenting diners a seasonal selection of burgers, sides, and drinks featuring flavours associated with the traditional dish.

The menu, which aims to evoke the savoury and comforting notes of French onion soup, includes a range of items that layer caramelised onions, Emmental cheese, crispy shallots and roasted garlic mayonnaise onto Shake Shack’s signature offerings, for a next-level comfort during the end of the winter months.

Among the featured items are the French Onion Burger, available in single or double patty versions, which is an Emmental cheeseburger topped with crispy shallots, caramelised onions and roasted garlic mayo. For vegetarians, the French Onion Shroom offers a crisp fried portobello mushroom filled with a blend of melted cheeses, topped with caramelised onions and roasted garlic mayo. The French Onion Shack Stack combines the Emmental cheeseburger with a Shroom Burger, also layered with caramelised onions and roasted garlic mayo.

Side options include Roasted Garlic Mayo Fries – crinkle cut fries topped with roasted garlic mayo, parmesan and spring onions – and crispy beer-battered onion rings made from sweet Spanish onions, served with a choice of tangy sour cream and onion sauce or roasted garlic mayo. For those with a sweet tooth, the Chocolate Churros Shake features hand-spun cinnamon churro frozen custard, spiced dark chocolate sauce, whipped cream and chopped churros. The drinks menu will also see the addition of Pineapple Mint Lemonade, which blends pineapple purée and mint with Shake Shack’s house-made lemonade.

Shake Shack, which opened its first restaurant in New York City’s Madison Square Park in 2004, has since expanded to over 640 locations worldwide, including more than 230 international outlets. In the UK, the chain is known for its made-to-order Aberdeen Angus Beef Burgers, potato buns made with regeneratively farmed flour, and Halal-certified beef and chicken as raw products, though its kitchens are not exclusively Halal. Its purpose is to “Stand For Something Good®”, referencing a focus on premium ingredients, employee development, and community investment.
