Sigrid at Roundhouse

Norwegian singer Sigrid has been having fun on her European tour, celebrating her latest album, There’s Always More That I Could Say. Rife with pop anthems, the project comes alive through the speakers and strobe lights of Camden’s iconic Roundhouse, where the crowd is receptive and excited. It’s a high-energy evening with moments of quiet vulnerability that make it all the more special.

Her smile can be seen from the very back seats as she bounds onstage, full of joy and freedom. She wears a simple all-white outfit against the rainbow of lights shining behind, the heavy bass of I’ll Always Be Your Girl setting the tone. Burning Bridges and Kiss the Sky are electro-pop anthems with riveting guitar solos and flashing strobe lights. Fans clap along in Borderline before Suckerpunch takes the roof off. Throughout, her vocals are effortless. She flows through octaves and belts like it’s nobody’s business. It gives an energy to the thumping audience that surges in moments like the anthemic Hush Baby, Hurry Slowly. All around the room, people jump and pound their fists and sway their arms and dance, dance, dance. The floor is euphoric, swelling with Sigrid’s vibrant tunes, vibing like it’s the height of summer.

She doesn’t take a moment to speak directly to the audience until near the end of the show, instead speeding through the setlist quick enough to fit 23 tracks in an hour and a half set. It’s before the piano segment that she opens up about the music, making this moment much more vulnerable, more intimate, and more interesting. Title track There’s Always More That I Could Say is a moving ballad of miscommunication, and she sings it like an oath. Home to You is beautifully unguarded, an ode to the waterfront town in Norway where she grew up. Her voice is as clear as the water she sings of, piercing, her Scandinavian accent coming through. She closes this section with Dynamite, an older track from her 2019 debut, and the fans are overjoyed.

It’s been fun, full of pureblood pop songs with massive choruses that have the room roiling and thriving together. Her hit Strangers closes out the night, and it’s a happy celebration that will be remembered for a long time.
