Three London pubs to host one-day Thanksgiving Feast with American-inspired menu

Ardent Pub Group’s three London watering holes, The Cadogan Arms in Chelsea, The George in Fitzrovia and The Hound in Chiswick, are each honouring our friends from across the pond with a one-day Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday 26th November in partnership with American drinks company Sazerac.

The family-style meal will pair traditional Turkey Day dishes with the pubs’ American-inspired food for a special menu devised by the group’s executive chef, John Sparks. Guests will be offered one of two arrival drinks, a Turkey Shoot, made with Eagle Rare 12-year-old bourbon, sloe gin, orgeat, raspberry and lemon, or an Appletini of Wheatley vodka, amontillado and sour apple cordial.

Sharing snacks will follow, including a Smoked Ham Scotch Egg with a cornflake crumb, served with apple butter mustard, a Warm Smoked Trout Dip to load up on everything bagel crostini, a Fried Brussels Sprout Caesar with crispy pancetta, and Cranberry, Baked Brie and Sage Toast.

The main course centres on a Roast Turkey Crown as well as Slow-Roast Short Ribs. Alongside roast potatoes and gravy, there are some classic Stateside accompaniments in the form of a Green Bean Casserole, Baked Sweet Potato with Marshmallow, Mac & Cheese and Corn Maque Choux – a Louisiana dish of braised sweetcorn. And, of course, there’s dessert: Pecan Pie with vanilla whipped cream or Oreo Cheesecake, both served to share.

A full vegetarian menu is also available. It opens with Pimento Cheese Arancini and Roast Squash Toast with ricotta, sage, pumpkin seeds and brown butter. The entrée is a Wild Mushroom, Leek and Chestnut Pot Pie with all the same trimmings.

Alongside the arrival cocktails, the pubs’ Thanksgiving drinks list will include a Sticky Toffee Old Fashioned, a Whiskey Sour and a classic New Orleans Sazerac cocktail made with whiskey, absinthe, Peychaud’s Bitters and sugar. Aimed at groups of friends and families, the feast will be served at both lunch and dinner.
