JENKI launches autumn menu with three new matcha and hojicha drinks across its London bars

London matcha chain JENKI has launched a seasonal autumn menu across its eight bars in the capital, adding three new drinks built around spices, toasted nuts, honey and brown sugar for the cooler months.

The three additions are Banana + Pecan, Spiced Brown Sugar and Ginger + Honey. The first pairs sweet banana with roasted pecan for a creamy drink. Spiced Brown Sugar combines caramel notes with autumnal spices. Ginger + Honey uses ginger as the main spice, with honey providing sweetness.

Customers can have each drink made with either matcha or hojicha. Hojicha is a Japanese green tea whose leaves are roasted, giving it a milder flavour than matcha, with notes often described as nutty and caramel-like. The hot versions of the new drinks combine matcha and hojicha in the same cup rather than offering a choice between them, a combination the brand is positioning as a warming option as temperatures drop.

The seasonal menu is available now at all of JENKI’s London locations. These include its newest bar, which recently opened on Berwick Street in Soho, as well as sites at Borough Market, Covent Garden, Spitalfields, Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, Selfridges and Old Broad Street in the City.

Hojicha in particular has become more common on menus in recent years, appearing alongside matcha as an alternative for drinkers who want a roasted, lower-intensity tea flavour.

JENKI was founded by Claudia & Otto Boyer in 2020. When we first discovered matcha, what stood out wasn’t just the flavour, but the mood and feeling it delivered. After travelling to Japan, the returned to London and JENKI began as a market stall. In 2021, they opened their first bar in Spitalfields, and from there, more followed. Today, every drink is still whisked fresh to order, while the company continue to work closely with producers across Japan, sourcing first-harvest matcha selected for flavour, quality and consistency.
