Kenzo taps film stars for autumn/winter 2015 campaign

Fashion brand Kenzo, known for its quirky, striking and peculiar aesthetics which have led to collaborations with real masters of oddity like Toilet Paper magazine and David Lynch (who created the set and the soundtrack for their A/W 2014 fashion show), has tapped many upcoming actors and musicians to star in its new autumn/winter 2015 campaign.

The brand’s creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon have chosen the American independent filmmaker Gregg Araki, involved in the New Queer Cinema movement, to direct a short film featuring Kenzo’s new collection. The movie, Here Now, includes a wide range of young actors such as Glee star Jacob Artist, Nicole LaLiberte of How to make it in America and Dexter, Avan Jogia of Victorious, Grace Victoria Cox of Under the Dome and 25-year-old musician Jake Weary, who will also star in the print campaign.

The first trailer for the short film was released at the Cinema Paradiso festival at the Grand Palais in Paris in June.

The six-minute-long movie is set in a fictional café in Los Angeles and presents a weird mixture of random elements which truly reflects the brand’s identity. Araki was, able to include all the dark surrealism that made him cult in the 90s; a colourful whirlwind of nuns, ghosts, glitter and burger buns drags everyone into Kenzo’s freaky world.
