Penelope Chilvers: dandy slippers, summer sandals and intrepid boots

Recently hitting the fashion headlines for those stunning “dandy slippers,” Penelope Chilvers started out as a painter with a love for Spanish culture and riding boots.

The British-born designer travelled to Madrid at a young age to study, and after falling in love with the country she worked with true Spanish artisans to create the perfect equestrian boot.

The famous riding boot has now become an iconic piece from Penelope’s collection and is highly sought out, especially after being worn by the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.

As we roll into the summer of 2013, Penelope boasts a stunning range of footwear which doesn’t just include boots but also “dandy slippers,” classic espadrilles and stunning sandals.

The best-selling “dandy slipper” comes in a superb range of rich, jewel-like colours and magnificently eye-catching designs. A firm favourite is the orange suede slipper with an embroidered gold palm tree, or perhaps you would prefer the electric blue satin with intricate flower detailing; either way Penelope Chilvers combines majestic tradition with a quirky edge to offer you a shoe you simply cannot be without. As for the sandals and espadrilles, whether you desire a pair of classic leather espadrilles or the slightly more glamorous metallic sandal give Penelope Chilvers a look.

She also insists that only natural, local materials are used with even the shoe boxes being bio-degradable. Penelope also follows traditional methods to create these gloriously beautiful shoes and the summer-ready espadrilles are even hand-sewn.

Prices vary for each product with sandals and slippers starting at £98, and boots making their way up to £449.

Not only is the Penelope Chilvers company brilliantly ethical and fantastically chic, but they are also a star favourite with the likes of Alexa Chung, Claudia Schiffer and Rebecca Hall all showing adoration by proudly wearing Penelope Chilvers’ products.

Shoes and bags can be purchased from the online boutique and also at 17 stores around the country including Selfridges and Harrods in London. Quite wonderfully you can even design your own slipper right down to the colour of the lining.
