Last week for Moomin takeover at Hilton London Bankside

Families have until the end of next week to visit the Moomin-themed takeover at Hilton London Bankside, with the hotel’s final Moomin brunch taking place on Sunday 25th October during the half-term break. The partnership, which began at the start of the summer, made the London hotel the first in the UK to host a residency by the whimsical crew. It has included themed bedrooms, a special brunch and a dedicated family craft area, all based on the central characters in the series of books and comic strips written by the Finnish-Swedish writer and artist Tove Jansson between 1945 and 1980.

Raoul De Souza, general manager at Hilton London Bankside, said: “Since launching at the beginning of summer, our Moomin takeover has brought joy to fans of the timeless world of the Moomins and has been hugely popular with kids and adults alike. The brunch, which includes a special guest appearance from a Moomin character, has proven particularly so with fans young and old.

“With the partnership coming to an end this October, we’re looking forward to welcoming families for one final half-term celebration and giving them the chance to experience the Moomin magic before it’s gone.”

The food offering is a themed version of the regular Sunday brunch at OXBO Bankside, the hotel’s in-house restaurant. It is served between 12.30pm and 3.30pm and features Moominmamma’s Pancakes with banana and caramel compote, forest berry jam, whipped cream and maple syrup. It also includes Moomin’s Orange Marmalade Cakes, banana blondies with brown butter frosting, fresh raspberry tarts with wildflower, lavender and lemon honey, and Moomin-themed cookies. Guests will also be served treats from Biscuiteers, which has produced an official collection with the Moomin brand. The brunch costs £42 for adults, or £62 with bottomless drinks, and £25 for children aged three to eight.

The takeover’s two themed rooms, a Moomin Suite and a King Family Room, can be booked as interconnecting rooms. Their décor follows a pink cloud theme based on the floating clouds in Jansson’s 1948 novel Finn Family Moomintroll. The spaces feature Moomin wall art and decals, cushions, blankets, giant plush toys, a Moomin lamp and Moomin towels. Guests will also find a collection of Jansson’s storybooks and puzzles, along with a welcome card and Moomin-inspired sweets. Rates start at £272 per night for the Moomin King Family Room and £422 per night for the King Bed Moomin Suite.
