At the End of the World to the Left: Julian Zigerli teams up with Katharina Grosse for latest fashion line

On 2nd July 2013, Julian Zigerli showcased his spring/summer 2014 collection which is interestingly titled At the End of the World to the Left. The event took place at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Berlin, and was a collaboration with German artist Katharina Grosse.

The fashion show was a magical affair that involved the audience being transported to an imaginary place at the end of the world − a visually stunning event that presented another spectacular line from the Suisse designer.

The Cruise and Callas gallery is where it all took place and the location was just as inspired as the actual clothing line. The combined effort of artistic Grosse and fashion-minded Zigerli resulted in a fantastically colourful show that was a mix of rainbow garments, casual sports fashion and laidback styling. In some cases Grosse not only contributed to the set design, but also to the clothing with some of her creations being used as prints and direct replicas of her art.

The entire fashion set was rather relaxed by the vibrant clash of primary colours, and block separates made for an eye-catching and delightfully appealing collection.

With every Julian Zigerli collection comes both a unique and interesting short film and for his AW 13/14 collection he partnered up with the controversial yet talented actor Alan Cumming as well as Berlin-based director Martin Monk to create Happy Tears. The short film received rave reviews and Monk was recently honoured at the Berlin Film Festival with the award of Best Emerging Talent.
