Mark the date: Jeans For Genes Day

If you weren’t aware, 20th September marks Jeans For Genes Day. School children and office-workers alike nationwide come together in the name of charity and sport their jeans to support the charity. The first launch party of its kind was held this week at Jewel Bar, St. Pauls, to mark the occasion. Celebrities, fashion insiders and even The Upcoming were there to celebrate and enjoy the festivities.

With genetic disorders effecting 1 in every 25 children, Jeans For Genes helps to raise awareness to the population and support the families of these children. The charity was established in 1996, but has changed slightly since then. Jeans For Genes has very much put themselves in the heart of the fashion industry, as a charity. With the night being such an amazing success, it’s no surprise that this isn’t going to be the last night of its kind.

The night was a wonderful mix of music, drinks, and lots of laughter. All the while, raising awareness for the charity. With a strict dress code of denim; not specifically jeans, guests showed up in their masses in a beautiful variety of denim-based outfits to enjoy the night.

The new advertising campaign was launched this year, featuring celebrities such as Amy Childs, Mel C and Lauren Goodger. The ladies are all sporting the Jeans For Genes T-shirt, designed by students from Edinburgh College of Art, which was then chosen by a fashion panel. Zatchels has also designed their own line of denim satchels for the occasion.

Fun days are being held in the city, on the day, to get involved in. Amy Child’s will also be collecting and taking donations to Barclay’s bank on the day. Wearing your jeans to work, college or school on the 20th and making a small donation is a great, and simple way to help the cause.
