Friedemodin: Capture your own story
Imagine a flower-lined path to a hidden garden, where exotic flowers grow while a light breeze wafts the sweet scents past you, along with petals that are caught upon it, allowing anything to happen at that very moment. Then imagine all of that in a bottle. Yes, Friedemodin have successfully created not only spectacularly individual scents, but also escapist stories to go with them.
The brand was started by Nina Friede and Elizabeth Modin, who were not business partners thrown together for a quick-fix, money-making scheme, but were friends that both had a passion for perfumery, and had a desire to make their own mark (and a big one at that) upon the beauty world. With only recently started selling online, and yet to break into UK retail, they are a relatively new brand – definitely with new ideas.
Their Jardin Mystique Collection angled for something different within the market of increasingly generic perfumes, with “each collection captur[ing] the story of a different place, time and culture, in a beautifully balanced composition which is extraordinary and evocative”. The brand, not only being remarkably unique, is also extremely indulgent, with the smooth tones of their perfume including ingredients such as bergamot, blackcurrant and lily of the valley. There are four perfumes within this collection: Jardin, Mystique, Rosee de Nuit, Vertine and Feu Follet, all with individually crafted scents and stories.
However, the individuality doesn’t stop there; the perfumes are designed to complement one another, meaning they can be sprayed together to create an entirely different smell, and an entirely different story.
With a personal ethos and desire for perfumery, it is in plain sight to see that Friedemodin don’t just make perfumes, but they make the whole feeling that goes with a perfume.
