VQ in Bloomsbury

VQ in Bloomsbury | Restaurant review

It’s not often you come across a stylish restaurant providing round the clock service in the centre of London. But on Great Russell Street, the brand new Bloomsbury VQ (Vingt-Quatre) provides exactly that. Whether you’re after a full English breakfast at the stroke of midnight or a Martini in the morning – VQ caters for your needs 24/7. Great service doesn’t get much better than this.

The venue itself is fashionably chic with smart, modish décor, but there is an air of relaxation about the place with comfortable seating and amicable waiting staff. Our eyes flick to the cocktail list we’ve heard so much about, and we’re delighted to see all the classics on the menu. Margarita at £7.95 is a favourite with the ladies – with its citrusy aroma, triple sec and just the right amount of tequila, you can’t go wrong with this choice. Bellini is another popular choice, prosecco with an explosion of peach thrills the taste buds. The exquisite cocktails wash down our starters perfectly. At £2.50, the Truffled Potato Crisps with tangy Blue Cheese Dip are an excellent choice. Marinated Olives (£3.50) are succulent, meaty and another favourite among diners.

There’s great variety on the main’s menu, with prices ranging from the £9.50 Chilli con Carne to the £32.00 T-Bone Steak and Fries. Grilled Salmon (£15.95) comes with a serving of spinach and a splash of hollandaise, or Marinated Lamb (£17.95) comes with fluffy vegetable couscous. The lamb is grilled to perfection – tender yet chewy, perfect with its accompanying harissa & tzatziki. The excellent service must be commended here – the dishes came in perfect time for our eager appetites!

The puddings were far too tempting to resist, so we opted for the recommended Warm Chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce (£5.50) and the luscious Apple Crumble & Custard (£5.95). It was a difficult choice to make, with treats on the menu such as Knickerbocker Glory and Banoffee Pie, but one we certainly didn’t regret.

VQ is an absolute must-visit for any passer-by and at any time too. Tuck in at your leisure.
