It’s do or die time as we preview the penultimate Premier League weekend: Title race, battle for fourth and relegation fight still to be resolved

The penultimate weekend of the Premier League season is upon us and it’s packed full of games that could have a huge impact at both ends of the table.

Arsenal get the weekend underway with Saturday’s only league game as they take on Norwich at the Emirates. Victory for the Gunners will pile the pressure on Newcastle and Tottenham below them, who will both require a victory to keep their push for third place going all the way until the final day of the season.

Newcastle will be relishing a home tie against top of the table Manchester City following their recent 2-0 win against Chelsea and with Papiss Cisse in the form of his life, scoring screamers for fun, they will think anything is possible.

Roberto Mancini has continued the mind games that helped get his side back into league winning contention by claiming Newcastle will be a harder task than Manchester United were on Monday and he could well be right.

The Sports Direct Arena (yes, it pains me to call it that and I’m not a Geordie) is a tough place to go and knowing that they must win to ensure their win over their great rivals wasn’t in vain, might prove to be a stumbling block.

United themselves do appear to have a much more welcome task at hand as they host Swansea, a team who have been a revelation this season, but whose away form has been questionable. They will need to be careful they don’t get exposed on the counter attack by a very able attacking Swansea side as they attempt to rival Man City in the goal difference stakes.

Things at the bottom of the table remain as tense as ever with Aston Villa, Bolton and QPR all competing in games they’ll believe they can get a result from. All three will be aware that just one slip up could put them in the unenviable position of favourites to get relegated on the final day of the season.

Elsewhere, Fulham host Sunderland and Everton travel to Molineux to faces Wolves. In two games where pride is the only thing at stake, as all with the exception of relegated Wolves have safe league positions. These crucial games and an FA Cup final can only mean we’re in for a dramatic weekend!
