Kings of Leon – WALLS
Fun fact for the day: Kings of Leon have had an unwritten rule that all of their album titles are made up of five syllables and their seventh is no exception. WALLS is an acronym for We Are Like Love Songs and the record, despite its lack of surprises, proves to be a great listen.
With their latest release, the band has stuck to what they are good at – creating punchy alternative rock anthems for all ages and personalities to enjoy. The catchy lead single Wait a Moment has already graced our radios and is reminiscent of some of their major hits such as Sex on Fire. Further into the record, Kings of Leon’s distinctive foot-tapping sounds do not fade and do not disappoint. Listeners will find themselves immersed in bellowing tracks Find Me and Reverend, which are ready-made to sing along to.
Slower tunes such as WALLS and Wild provide a more mellow side to the album. The title track is a simple ballad with tranquil piano and guitar melodies and is possibly one of the most beautiful songs on the playlist. Likewise, Wild – although slightly more upbeat – will have arms swaying in no time.
Kings of Leon explore a range of styles in their latest offering and the group certainly seem incredibly comfortable with the music that they create. They are confident with the songs that they release and whilst none of the sounds produced on Kings of Leon’s latest album are particularly new and fresh, fans and non-fans alike will find it hard not to enjoy this ten-track record. With an arena tour of the UK on the horizon, it’s clear, just by listening to WALLS, that the band will put on a memorable and mesmerising show..
