Donnie Darko: An interview with director Richard Kelly on the 4K re-release

To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the cult classic Donnie Darko, the BFI is screening the film in new and improved, restored 4K. The movie tells the story of a suburban teenager called Donnie, who is told by Frank – a man in a monstrous rabbit costume – that the world is going to end in six hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds.

We met up with director Richard Kelly to talk about how the feature keeps on generating interest, why apocalyptic films inspire the human imagination and about working with a young Jake Gyllenhaal.
