Ingrid Goes West: A chat with Aubrey Plaza, Billy Magnussen and Matt Spicer

Matt Spicer’s Ingrid Goes West premiered yesterday at the London Film Festival in an intimate space inside Picturehouse Central. His debut film follows the story of Ingrid, played by Aubrey Plaza, in her intent of stalking Taylor Sloane, an Instagram-famous influencer, who she’s obsessed with on social media. For that purpose, Ingrid’s questionable motivations drive her to LA, where she becomes friends with Taylor, in what it is a brilliantly crafted black comedy around social media stardom and its repercussions.

We had the chance to talk with Plaza and Magnussen about their characters, working together on the set and their personal involvement with social media.

We also spoke with director Matt Spicer who shared with us his great satisfaction for being able to work with all the actors he wished to cast for the film. He praised the role of social media in our lives and the fact that there’s a dark side he was more than happy to explore with this film.
