Gabrielle’s Angel foundation lands in London with its vital message in great style

Gabrielle Rich was only 27 years old when acute leukaemia took her life. A talented woman and promising actress, she first went into remission in 1993 after defeating Hodgkin’s disease. Her last wish was to start a leukaemia foundation that could help other patients alleviate the pain she and her family went through.

Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation became operative in 1996 achieving great results (over $20 million has been granted for blood cancer research) thanks to recurring fundraising events in the US.

Yesterday night the first UK fundraising gala was held at the iconic Battersea Power Station in London to mark the foundation’s expansion to Britain, where every year over 309,500 new cases of cancer are diagnosed.

The event was hosted by founder and foundation president Denise Rich, mother of Gabrielle and Grammy-award nominee, and her two daughters Daniella Rich Kilstock and Ilona Rich Schachter.

The VIP parterre included billionaire Tamara Ecclestone, Caprice Bourret and Heather Kerzner.

The fundraising event saw performances by The Noisettes, Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings, burlesque star Emma de Vees and DJ Cassidy.

Everything was exceptional, with food and drinks provided by Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen and legendary Champagne producer Veuve Clicquot.

The auction of three luxury lots, taken care of by Total Management and Lucy Doughty, raised almost £100,000: the diamond table at the Brits’ awards swept two £24,000 bids.

A raffle was also held for two VIP package tickets to see Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball next September in London.
