The cool breeze of the night drifting through the open stage was met with the warmth of an open crowd that brought together people from the alternative scene in celebration of an artist who is simply oozing with quirkiness. LP appeared on the stage to encouraging cheers from the audience, like a young Bob Dylan but with the vocal capacity of Adele, ideal for those who like throat-busting ballads.

With the release of her fourth studio album Lost On You, the New York singer-songwriter is at a pivotal point in the transition of her music: classic pop-rock meets a modern touch, combining slick guitars with emotional lyrics which the performer belts out in high notes at the top of her voice for hits such as Girls Go Wild. The crowd did indeed go wild with arms waving in the air, jumping and bopping to the beats.

The petite singer has a great stage presence in which the entire space becomes hers to dance upon, ensuring that everyone gets a good view of their beloved artist as she throws instruments in the air and plays the harmonica during the applause to Strange. Her introspective but electrifying songs have clearly touched many a heart with their sentimental words – which touch on love, forgiveness and being the change one desires rather than being forced to change for another.

At the beautiful Somerset House the eclectic audience – befitting of the artist – had all arms in the air, singing along to the likes of When We’re High and Muddy Waters, which was accompanied by a mesmerising visual display.

The pop-rock singer with entrancing whistling notes and haunting vocal skills returned to the stage for a three-piece encore, which included the single Lost On You that topped the charts worldwide, reaching 100 million views on YouTube. All phones were up in the air for this highly anticipated hit resembling stars standing sentinel to the young star on stage.
