Gingers: the perfect one-stop jewellery shop

Gingers: the perfect one-stop jewellery shop

Gingers is a small handmade jewellery company located in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The name came from one ginger lady and that one idea has now blossomed into a whole bunch of ginger ladies with delightful jewellery ambitions. Crafting simple and understated jewellery, Gingers is designed to find you lovely pieces to match your outfits, without breaking the bank.

This label started from a complete fit of rage. The owner, Jay, became completely fed up with piles of expensive necklaces or rings that turned her fingers green and which broke within weeks of having them. It was this that made her start making her own pieces. It all began with a simple pair of earrings but soon grew to necklaces and other beautiful trinkets. Starting her very own online shop, Jay started filling it with the items she’d been making. As the team grew, the more things were made and the more they wanted to make! It just hasn’t stopped since!

Being able to showcase their pieces in local shops as well as local and national fairs has been one of the highlights of their journey so far. Getting to know customers in person and finding out what they want allows Gingers to tailor exactly to our needs, making it the perfect one-stop shop for unique, quality jewellery.

All of the girls who are involved with Gingers are completely hooked on jewellery. It is all of their diverse tastes that make their products so special. Ideas for new pieces are usually bounced off a few others until it becomes a reality and ideas have been taken from their mums too! Each product is tested before it is sold. By tested, the girls mean that they have tested to see if it can survive a day of full work or a night out or a day of housework. Can this label get any more perfect?

Inspirations for the pieces have stemmed from vintage fashion and art backgrounds. Combining these ideas with trends and with things that they personally like has made for their very own version of heaven. Gingers have even managed to create their own ‘Deathly Hallows’ necklaces, taking inspiration from some of their favourite books. The girls aim to make jewellery that can be worn on a daily basis or simply over and over again and we think they have achieved exactly that. Some of our favourites have to be the big lock necklace (£4.00), the matching swallows brooches (£7.00) and the Eiffel tower necklace (£4.00).

The future of Gingers is certainly a bright one. A limited edition range is being launched in June and despite having a slightly more expensive price tag, the pieces are certainly ones to get you excited. Until then, you can treat both your purse and your outfit to flawless and faultless new jewellery here
