Don’t let the name fool you. Book of Deer is not only the oldest manuscript written in Scotland, it’s also a collection of dreamy, feminine women’s clothing. Book of Deer is the brainchild of Scottish designer Eilidh Ho. Born in Edinburgh to a Scottish mother and a Chinese father; Eilidh was raised in Honk Kong and later moved to London to study Fashion at Central Saint Martins. She then spent time working in the fashion industry for several designers in London and New York before returning to Hong Kong to establish her company, Doe Eye Design ltd. The first label for Doe Eye Design ltd. is the Book of Deer.

“Book of Deer designs for the quietly iconoclastic girl with an active imagination, spinning a tale into every garment and encouraging the wearer to keep her head in the clouds.” All their fantastical and detailed prints are hand drawn, digitally printed and exclusive to the brand. “The Book of Deer style ethos is rooted in the character and atmosphere of clothing.”

The SS12 collection is filled with a mere twelve pieces, all of which are connected to different shades of blue and purple. With item names like Hazel, Waterlily, Clover and Ivy, it’s hard not to evoke some of that “ keep your head in the clouds” imagination that Eilidh Ho wants you to have when you wear her clothing. The collection has no lack of flowy, whimsical looks including several Peter pan collared dresses and tops, loose tanks and one long purple sheer skirt. Prices for Book of Deer start from £50.
