Military Wives premiere: On the red carpet with Sharon Horgan, Kristin Scott-Thomas and Peter Cattaneo

Military Wives, Peter Cattaneo’s new film, follows the real-life story of the Military Wives’ Choirs, groups of women across Britain who formed glee clubs while their husbands and partners were away serving in the military. A feel-good flick with an uplifting message about the importance of hope in difficult circumstances, Military Wives is especially relevant at a moment of sudden global crisis. At its premiere, we caught up with the actors, director and some of the real Military Wives Choir to discuss the production and experience of making the film.

Lead actors Kristin Scott-Thomas and Sharon Horgan chatted with us about their motivations for taking on the project, the sense of belonging that a choir brings, and what they want viewers to take away from the film.

Director Peter Cattaneo opened up about how he got started with the project, the importance of music, and what makes the film special.

We caught up with real-life Military Wives choirmaster Gareth Malone and choir member Samantha Stevenson about their excitement for the project, the power of singing, and what the choir is doing today.

Actor Jason Flemyng talked about his involvement in the project, his preparation for the role, and the experience of being on set with 36 strong women.

We also got to chat with three of the real original Military Wives choir members about the impetus behind the formation of the choirs, the importance of singing, and the reality of being a military spouse.
