Despicable Me 4 trailer drops, announcing Gru’s return to UK cinemas in July 2024

The return of Gru and his Minions has finally been announced with the unveiling of the first trailer for Despicable Me 4, which is set to hit cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 12th July 2024. The film, which marks the first instalment in the franchise in seven years, follows the success of Minions: The Rise of Gru and features a star-studded voice cast including Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell.

In this new chapter, Gru, voiced by Oscar nominee Steve Carell, continues his adventures with his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) and their daughters as they face off against a new villain, Maxime Le Mal, portrayed by Emmy winner Will Ferrell. The Gru family is also joined by a fresh addition, Gru Jr, whose antics promise to bring even more trouble and laughter.

Helmed by Chris Renaud, a co-creator of the Minions and Oscar nominee for the original Despicable Me, the latest sequel promises to deliver Illumination’s characteristic mix of subversive humour and non-stop action. The screenplay has been penned by Emmy winner Mike White and series veteran Ken Daurio, while the film’s production is led by Illumination founder Chris Meledandri and Brett Hoffman.
