Natural History Museum to launch Inspired by Nature afternoon tea

The Natural History Museum introduces an afternoon tea experience named Inspired by Nature from 20th March 2024, a combination of culinary delights that pay homage to British farming and seasonal produce. Created in collaboration with Benugo’s pastry chefs, this new offering aims to provide guests with an array of both sweet and savoury options, including vegan choices, that are inspired by the natural world. Priced from £35, with an option to include Prosecco for £40, the tea will be served in the museum’s exclusive Anning Rooms, known for its unrivalled architectural views.

The menu features a variety of carefully selected items such as Coronation Chicken Sandwiches, British Cucumber with Black Pepper Crematta on White Bread, and a Cherry Tomato, Red Onion, Superstraccia, and Pesto Tart. This is complemented by desserts like Earl Grey Scones with Cornish Clotted Cream and Tiptree Strawberry Jam, a Sweet Pea & Lemon Cake, and thematic treats including a Dinosaur-footprint Macaron and an Ammonite Cookie.

Available only through pre-booking, the afternoon tea is designed to be the ideal conclusion to a day spent exploring the museum’s latest exhibitions, such as the 59th Wildlife Photographer of the Year and the forthcoming Birds: Brilliant & Bizarre showcase, set to open on 24 May.

Robert Wetherell, the Head of Events and Catering at the Natural History Museum, expressed his enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “We are delighted to be bringing this charming new afternoon tea offering to our visitors. Working closely with Benugo’s impeccable pastry experts, we’ve curated the Inspired by Nature tea, which we believe will be the perfect addition to any visit to the Natural History Museum this year.”
