Farah Nabulsi’s The Teacher set to debut in UK and Ireland, explores lives in occupied Palestine

The new suspense drama The Teacher, directed by the Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning filmmaker Farah Nabulsi, is set to debut in UK and Ireland cinemas on Friday 27th September 2024. The film, which stars Saleh Bakri, Imogen Poots and Muhammad Abed El Rahman, explores the challenging lives of individuals in occupied and colonised Palestine through the narrative of a Palestinian school teacher.

The London-based production companies, Cocoon Films and Native Liberty Productions, have recently released a trailer and poster for the feature, which marks Nabulsi’s first venture into feature filmmaking. The Teacher has already garnered international attention, winning the Best International Film Award at the 2024 Galway Film Fleadh and securing audience awards at several other international film festivals, including the 67th San Francisco International Film Festival and the 38th Washington DC International Film Festival.

The plot centres around a Palestinian teacher, played by Saleh Bakri, who is torn between his involvement in political resistance and his responsibilities towards his student (Muhammad Abed El Rahman) and a new romantic interest (Imogen Poots), a volunteer worker. This narrative promises to deliver an intense and emotional experience, highlighting the complex and often harrowing choices faced by those in the region.

The Teacher premiered at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and continues to make waves on the global film circuit with its poignant storytelling and compelling performances.
