Fair Fashion Fair: A pop-up triumph

Fair Fashion Fair: A pop-up triumph

The famous Notting Hill, home to some of London’s best boutiques and vintage stores in-between the homely café’s and the infamous Portobello Road, was the perfect setting of the pop-up charity shop Fair Fashion Fair.  A company not only dedicated to bringing a new and exciting twist to the way people shop and altering the image of recycled clothing, but to aiding the Mind mental health charity.

The event was made up entirely of smiling volunteers, dealing with customers, repositioning items and adding to the general buzz. As well as some leafleting busy nearby streets, which drew in an intimate yet enthusiastic crowd.

If you think that charity shopping is not for you, then think again, because this event made it feel classy and unique whilst being completely affordable with furniture, clothing, jewellery and other various gems starting at extremely low prices. The best of what charity shopping had to offer was on display yesterday, showcasing brands such a the luxury Christian Dior and high-street favourites like Zara, all presented on antique tables, wooden shelves, mantlepieces and beautifully framed black and white photographs, making the feel a cross between Parisian and quintessentially British.

Founder Jade Galston made vintage shopping extremely fun and yet fashionably edgy, with a rustic yet homely environment of cream balconies, styled mannequins and soft music. This all created a noticeably upbeat vibe with customers chatting, laughing and admiring the plentiful items for sale.

At every corner there were numerous treasures to be found, from an original classic naval jacket to leather trousers, showing careful thought to each garment as they really lend themselves to the upcoming military and grungy A/W trends.

After the great success of this all-day two-day event, Fair Fashion Fair most definitely should be one to watch.
